Morgan Voithofer - Miss Rain Day 2014

Morgan is the 15-year-old daughter of Jason Voithofer and Heather Tokarcik, both of Carmichaels. She is a sophomore at Carmichaels High School where she is a highest honors student, maintains a 4.0 GPA, is treasurer of the Junior High National Honor Society, and was chosen as Outstanding Scholar of the Year. She is currently at the top of her class. She is a member of the Sr. High Chorus, Ladies Ensemble Choir, Drama Club, and is captain of the Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad. Outside of school, Morgan takes voice and piano lessons, is a member of St. Hugh’s Catholic Church Choir where she performs various solos in Sunday Mass, volunteers at Golden Living Center in Waynesburg, and sings the National Anthem at many local events. She is also a member of the Center for Performing Arts Senior Company Theatre Program. Morgan has been awarded many vocal solos for CAHS Chorus competitions at Kennywood Park and King’s island. Morgan’s hobbies include singing, acting, shopping, cooking, reading, and spending time with her brother, Hunter, and her dogs, Minty and Pedro. Her current ambition is to attend Point Park University and major in theatre and minor in business.

Bailey Barnyak - 2014 Crownbearer

Bailey is the 6 year old daughter of Nikki Gasti of Carmichaels and Jeff Barnyak of Clarksville. She will attend 1st grade at Carmichaels Area Elementary School in the fall. Bailey studies dance at the Tricia Ricco Dance Studio. She attends Gymnastics classes at the West Virginia Gymnastics Training Center. Bailey enjoys participating in local pageants and has held the titles of Tiny Miss Greene County, Tiny Miss Riverfest and currently holds the title of Petite Miss Greene County. Bailey also enjoys playing t-ball. During her free time Bailey loves to swim, play American Girl dolls and visit the beach with her family. 2014 Miss Rain Day Pageant Kick Off Pageant

Five young women from throughout Greene County gathered recently at the Glass Room in the Benedum Hall on the Waynesburg University campus to officially kick off their quest for the Miss Rain Day title.
 

Distinguished guests for the evening were Miss Stephanie Mitchell, 2013 Miss Rain Day and Miss Bailey Barnyak, 2014 Crown Bearer. Bailey is the 6 year old daughter of Nikki Gasti of Carmichaels and Jeff Barnyak of Clarksville; Stephanie is the 17-year old daughter of Becky and Jim Mitchell of Carmichaels.
 

Westmoreland County Community College is again offering of a tuition scholarship to Miss Rain Day 2014. The scholarship may be applied to any of Westmoreland County Community College’s 65 associate degree programs that prepare students for careers or provide the first two years of the bachelor’s degree. Westmoreland County Community College President Daniel Obara noted “On behalf of our Greene County Education Center, Westmoreland County Community College is pleased to offer a tuition scholarship to this year’s Miss Rain Day Pageant winner.”
 

The contestants have had their portrait taken courtesy of Bruno and Bruno photography, held interviews with WANB Radio and “Crazy Dougie Wilson”, and attended a special dinner and performance of “Legally Blonde” at the Benedum Center, Pittsburgh, PA.
 

The contestants also spent an evening at the ball game watching the Washington Wild Things, and will volunteer their time at the Greene County Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Outing and Habitat for Humanity Rain Day 5K race.
 

After the pageant, Miss Rain Day 2014, her court and the contestants will participate in the Rain Day Festival on July 29, and the winners will perform for the festivalgoers.
 

Miss Rain Day 2013 Stephanie Mitchell is guiding the 2014 contestants through their quest for the title and will relinquish the crown to one of this year’s contestant. In her remarks to the 2014 Contestants, Stephanie stated, “The title of Miss Rain Day 2013 has enabled me to represent Rain Day Scholarship Inc. on many different occasions. I have grown as an individual, met many new people, and mostly importantly been given the opportunity to give back to my community.”
